Monrovia, Liberia –Â The City Government of Monrovia extended a warm welcome to Mayor J. Allen Joines of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA, and his wife, Susan Joines, during their recent visit to Liberia. Mayor Joines and Mrs. Joines arrived in Monrovia as guests of the municipal government, highlighting the growing partnership between the two cities.
Mayor John Charuk S. Siafa of Monrovia officially welcomed Mayor Joines and Susan at Monrovia City Hall, in a ceremony attended by the city’s workforce and the Monrovia City Council. The event underscored the significance of the visit in fostering collaboration and development.
Prominent figures in attendance included the Honorable MacDella Cooper, Senior Political Advisor to the President of Liberia and Chairperson of the Monrovia City Council, alongside council members Madam Fatima Bintu Sirleaf, Ms. Hester Baker, and Mr. Ishmael Barry. Their presence demonstrated the high level of importance placed on strengthening ties with Winston-Salem.
To further express appreciation for Mayor Joines’ visit and commitment to collaboration, the Monrovia City Corporation (MCC) hosted a special dinner in his honor on Friday, April 25, 2025. The event, held at the renowned Rankoli Restaurant in Sinkor, brought together council members, senior management staff, and other distinguished guests.
The dinner served as a platform to acknowledge Mayor Joines’ dedication and to recognize his pragmatic approach towards establishing a strong partnership with the MCC, particularly in the areas of Public Safety and capacity building opportunities.
Discussions during the reception and dinner primarily focused on identifying and developing areas of cooperation between Monrovia and Winston-Salem. The leaders explored potential avenues for collaboration, aiming to broaden and deepen the existing ties between the two cities for mutual benefit.
