Nairobi, Kenya – Saboti Member of Parliament, Caleb Amisi, has outlined a strategy he believes the opposition must adopt to unseat President William Ruto in the 2027 General Election. In a series of statements released on Sunday, April 20th, Amisi emphasized the need for unity and specifically targeting young voters, while also accusing the current administration of using state resources to undermine opposition efforts.

Amisi cautioned opposition leaders against relying on tribal politics, stating that such tactics are easily countered by the incumbent, who has the resources to buy the support of tribal leaders and their followers. “If you are a presidential candidate and wish Ruto to go home, stop playing tribal arithmetic and focus on the United Voice and voters’ cards of the young people. A rogue government has enough money to buy any tribal kingpin and their supporters combined. You won’t win in this manner!” he declared.

The MP stressed the importance of mobilizing young Kenyans to register and vote in the upcoming election. He insisted that a significant portion of the population desires a change in leadership in 2027, but their voices risk being unheard if they are not actively engaged in the electoral process.

Beyond voter mobilization, Amisi also leveled serious accusations against President Ruto and his administration. He claimed that government resources are being used to pressure ODM leader Raila Odinga into supporting Ruto’s agenda until 2027. He further alleged that individuals and bloggers are being financially incentivized to attack ODM leaders who oppose a broad-based government and to sway opinion in the Nyanza region in favor of the Kenya Kwanza administration.

“Ruto is giving a lot of money to a few people close to Raila and many Nyanza leaders to twist the ground to force Baba to work with Ruto until 2027. Bloggers have been paid handsomely to attack us and propagate broad-based nonsense,” Amisi asserted.

Despite these claims of government interference, Amisi remained confident in the opposition’s ability to defeat Ruto in 2027. He believes that the Kenyan people are determined to elect a new leader.

“The Hurricane Catarina which will hit Ruto in 2027 is still doing press-ups. Kenyans have made a solemn decision to send Ruto home for the sake of the sovereignty of the state of Kenya. His option is either to cause chaos, war, or leave peacefully. It is done, my brother. Sio lazima uwe raisi. The nation is more important than an individual,” the Saboti MP concluded, emphasizing the need for peaceful transitions of power and the importance of placing the nation’s interests above individual ambition.

Amisi’s statements highlight the growing anticipation and strategic maneuvering as the 2027 General Election draws closer. It remains to be seen whether the opposition will heed his advice and effectively unify to challenge the incumbency.
