Veteran Pastor David Abioye Embarks on New Ministry Chapter After Winners Chapel Retirement

Abuja, Nigeria – Pastor David Abioye, a prominent figure in Nigerian Pentecostal Christianity, has announced the launch of a new church following his retirement from Living Faith Church Worldwide, popularly known as Winners Chapel. Abioye, who served as a Vice President within the organization under the leadership of Bishop David Oyedepo, revealed the commencement of Sunday morning services via his official X handle.

“Exciting news! By the grace of God, starting next Sunday, our service is moving to the morning, 8:00am. It’s a new day for you — come ready to be blessed mightily in Jesus’ name,” Pastor Abioye posted on Monday evening, inviting followers and the wider community to join the new endeavor. “Mark your calendars, set your alarms — we can’t wait to see you there! Tag someone you’re inviting!”

Pastor Abioye’s retirement, along with that of Pastor Thomas Aremu, occurred in October 2024 following a review of Winners Chapel’s leadership policy which set the official retirement age at 55. At the time of their departure, Aremu was 67 and Abioye was 63.

Following his retirement, Abioye established a non-denominational ministry that initially held services on Sunday evenings. However, in a recent announcement, he shared the transition to morning services, commencing at 8:00 AM on May 4th. “Very important information. From next Sunday by the grace of God, our service is migrating to morning. Hallelujah. And the time is 8am. God bless you mightily in Jesus’ name,” he stated, signaling a new direction for his ministry.

This move signifies a continuing trend of established religious leaders in Africa embarking on new ventures, demonstrating the enduring strength and adaptability of evangelism across the continent. Pastor Abioye’s new church promises to offer a fresh spiritual avenue for worshippers, building upon his decades of experience and influence within the Christian community.

Further details regarding the location and specific focus of the new church are expected to be announced in the coming days.
