Kenitra, Morocco – Morocco’s national football team, comprising local players born in 2000 and later, secured a 2-1 victory over Burkina Faso on Saturday in a friendly match held at Kenitra’s Municipal Stadium. The win marks a positive start to their crucial preparations for the upcoming African Nations Championship (CHAN).

The fiercely contested encounter saw the Moroccan side showcase strong offensive play, particularly in the second half. The breakthrough came in the 58th minute when Bouchaïb Arrasi found the back of the net, giving the national team the lead. Just four minutes later, Younes Elkaabi doubled Morocco’s advantage in the 62nd minute, solidifying their control of the match. Burkina Faso managed to pull one goal back, but it wasn’t enough to deny the host nation the win.

These friendly encounters are pivotal for the national team as they fine-tune their strategy and cohesion ahead of the African Nations Championship (CHAN). The prestigious continental tournament, exclusively for players competing in their respective domestic leagues, is scheduled to be co-hosted next month by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.

The two teams are set to face off again later this week, with a second friendly match scheduled for next Thursday. The rematch will take place once more at Kenitra’s Municipal Stadium, kicking off at 6:00 PM, providing another valuable opportunity for both squads to assess their progress before the main tournament.
