Tseikuru, Kenya – Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has launched a scathing attack on President William Ruto, declaring that the opposition’s primary agenda is to remove him from power in the 2027 General Election. Gachagua’s remarks come in response to Ruto’s criticism that the opposition lacks a clear vision and concrete plans for the country.

Speaking at a high-profile gathering hosted by Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka at his rural home in Tseikuru, Gachagua delivered a fiery address that signaled a calculated effort to unify the opposition and challenge Ruto’s leadership.

“The most important thing for Kenya to move forward is that Ruto must go,” Gachagua told the enthusiastic crowd. “That is the most important thing. He keeps shouting that we have no agenda; we do have an agenda! The agenda is to remove him first.”

This statement was a direct rebuttal to Ruto’s earlier accusations, positioning the opposition’s goal of unseating the president as a critical mission for the nation.

Gachagua doubled down, stating, “So William Ruto, don’t dictate our agenda, sort out yours. We have an agenda, and the first is for Kenya to improve, for work to continue, and for the nation to stand tall, you must be a one-term president.”

The gathering in Tseikuru, while officially billed as a consultative meeting, was perceived as a show of strength and a sign of early mobilization for the 2027 polls. Kalonzo Musyoka, a veteran politician with a loyal following in Ukambani, hosted a number of key political figures.

Gachagua also hinted at plans to unite behind a single presidential candidate in 2027, expressing confidence in the opposition’s ability to challenge Ruto.

“The journey to form the 2027 government has begun,” Gachagua revealed. “We are here to say that your leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, we have sat with him. We have sat with Eugene Wamalwa, Fred Matiang’i, Martha Karua, and many other leaders. And we have agreed that, given where Kenya is today, we must listen to one another, love each other, and sit down to produce one flagbearer.”

The former Deputy President’s pronouncements come amid growing speculation about the formation of a grand opposition coalition to take on Ruto in the next election.

Gachagua has previously claimed that Ruto is losing sleep over mounting pressure from the opposition and failing to regain public trust. He urged Kenyans to remain patient as the opposition works to unseat the current president, setting the stage for what promises to be a highly contested and closely watched political landscape in the lead-up to 2027.
