MEXICO CITY—Hundreds of demonstrators took to the streets of Mexico City today, marching peacefully through the capital to demand an immediate end to the war in Gaza and protesting the escalating humanitarian catastrophe.

Led primarily by activists and students, the protesters waved Palestinian flags and held aloft signs calling for “Justice Now” and “Solidarity with Gaza.” The demonstration reflected mounting public anger in Mexico and broader calls for international action against the widespread destruction caused by the Israeli offensive in the Palestinian territory.

A central demand voiced by demonstrators was an appeal to the Mexican government to take decisive action, specifically urging the administration of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador to sever diplomatic ties with Israel.

The protest coincided with renewed indirect talks underway between Israel and Hamas in Egypt, aimed at achieving a comprehensive ceasefire and securing the release of remaining hostages. Yet, in Gaza, Israel’s continued military offensive has killed tens of thousands of Palestinians and leveled entire neighborhoods across the coastal strip.

Reports indicate that civilians able to flee are escaping a new Israeli assault on parts of Gaza City. Millions of others remain trapped amid catastrophic destruction and severe shortages of essential resources, including food, water, and medicine.

The march in Mexico City joins a growing chorus of international demonstrations urging global leaders to intervene to protect civilians and ensure the sustained delivery of aid, highlighting broad public demands for accountability and an immediate resolution to the conflict that has ravaged the territory for months.
