Washington, DC – Former President Donald J. Trump declared winner of the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election. The former president defeated Vice President Kamala Harris 295 to 226 Electoral College votes.
Trump’s Republican party also takes control of the U.S. Senate and maintains control of the U.S. House of Representatives, effectively giving the newly elected president a broader leverage to lead the government in whatever way he wants. Republican control of the House of Representatives would give Trump a major boost in enacting his presidential agenda.
Donald Trump, the 45th president will now assume office as the elected 47th President of the United States.
Unlike Trump who refused to acknowledge his defeat by President Joe Biden in 2020, in Vice President Harris’ concession speech, she urged her supporters to accept her loss and focus instead on the future. “While I concede this election,” she said, “I do not concede the fight that fueled this campaign.”
Some analysts and commentators say Harris’s concession speech has helped repositioned the United States as the beacon of hope for democracy across the world. Some say Harris will go down in history as an incredible political figure and a champion for women’s political leadership.
